Job Responsibilities
Being a part-time firefighter, or on-call rescue personnel as it is also called, means that you have a regular job that you can leave when an alarm goes off. Within eight minutes of the alarm, you must change into alarm clothing and be in one of the station's rescue vehicles. Therefore, you must live and/or work relatively close to the rescue station.
Qualifications
To become part of the new team of part-time firefighters in Sörbyarna, you must meet certain basic requirements.
- Good physical condition: You must have good physical condition to handle the demanding tasks involved in the work of a part-time firefighter. This is tested through a fitness test where you walk for eight minutes on a treadmill with a certain incline and speed, wearing alarm clothing and a breathing apparatus.
- Swimming ability: You need to be able to swim 100m in any swimming style, 50m swimming with a lifebuoy, and 50m towing a similarly sized peer with a lifebuoy.
- Fully healthy: You must be fully healthy and have good health to perform the work of a part-time firefighter.
- Live or work near the station: You must live or work within an eight-minute travel distance from the part-time station in Antnäs, which will be located on Fältskyttevägen next to ICA, to respond to alarms quickly and effectively.
- B driver's license: You must have a valid B driver's license to drive rescue vehicles.
- Personal suitability: We also assess your personal suitability through competency-based interviews and reference checks.
Meritorious
C driver's license is meritorious but not a requirement. In our work as part-time firefighters, we meet people in various situations, often when they are most vulnerable. Therefore, it is crucial that you can be calm, considerate, and empathetic in these situations. To handle the physical and mental challenges that the job entails, it is important that you are mentally prepared and physically fit. Since we work in a team, it is also important that you are collaborative and can contribute to finding solutions to emerging problems together with your colleagues. We strive to create a positive and supportive work environment where everyone can feel safe and develop in their work. We aim for a balanced gender distribution and see diversity as a strength. Therefore, we welcome all applicants who meet our requirements, regardless of background or gender.
